First aid is essential for all Kare Plus carers, nurses, and healthcare assistants and on World First Aid Day, we’re urging you to learn the skills that could save a life.

World First Aid Day takes place on the second Saturday of September each year, to raise awareness of the importance of first aid training.

At Kare Plus, we are committed to the highest care and well-being of all those we care for.

All our care staff undergo comprehensive first aid training as part of their role, giving them the skills needed to respond effectively to medical emergencies and provide immediate care.

First aid is not limited to healthcare professionals; it is a skill that can be learned by anyone and should be accessible to everyone.

At Kare Plus, we want to raise awareness of the importance of first aid skills that anyone can learn, which genuinely can save someone’s life.</p

Why Should You Learn Basic First Aid Skills:

• First aid saves lives

• First aid training prevents further injuries

• It gives you peace of mind to know you can react quickly in an emergency situation

First Aid Saves Lives

If someone collapsed and you were there, would you know what to do to help?

First aid is an essential skill that allows you to act in emergencies and potentially save a life.

It can be used in almost any emergency situation and at any location, whether at home, at work or in public.

First aid actions such as CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), controlling bleeding, and managing choking can make a big difference to someone’s survival.

Kare Plus encourages everyone to learn basic first aid skills as a pathway to help people in need of your support.

First Aid Training Helps to Prevent Further Injuries

Having a quick, correct, and effective response to accidents and medical emergencies reducing the severity of further injuries.

If it is safe to do so, knowing and applying basic first aid in an emergency situation is only ever of benefit to the person needing it.

First aid aid training enables you to react calmly and effectively in serious situations.

First Aid Skills Gives You Peace of Mind

First aid skills give people reassurance and peace of mind knowing that they are prepared to help in an emergency.

On World First Aid Day, we encourage you to learn first aid and gain essential life-saving skills.

St John Ambulance offers first aid training courses, available on their website.

Even those not trained in first aid can provide essential life-saving help in an emergency situation.

Knowing how to put someone into the recovery position is something everyone can easily learn, as can doing the initial primary survey to assess someone’s condition.

You can find some informative videos on both the recovery position and the primary survey on St John Ambulance’s YouTube channel.
