National Day of Reflection - Looking back at a year of the pandemic

Join us today for the National Day of Reflection, to reflect on our collective loss, support those who’ve been bereaved, and hope for a brighter future. This annual day will enable us to pause and support each other through this difficult time.

Kare Plus are proud to be a part of the National Day of Reflection, championed by Marie Curie and backed by Prime Minister Boris Johnson. The day will see people across the nation holding talks and seminars throughout the day, including a minute silence at 12:00pm, to pay respects to those we have lost due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There are many ways you can get involved:

• Join the Nation at 12:00 GMT for a minute’s silence in remembrance to those who have lost their lives and those who are bereaving.
• At 20:00 GMT, create a colourful poster for your window or shine a light on your doorstep to show your support on the National Day of Reflection.
• Community-led activities are being held. So, keep an eye out on your local pages and websites.
• Join Marie Curie and their ‘Talks and conversations’. Whether you’ve been affected by grief this year, you work in the field or you’re simply interested in learning more, please join them to find inspiration and support, or even share your own experiences if you’d like to.

In addition to Marie Curie, there are other organisations that are there to help with the support you need. These are times of hardship, and it is important that we support one another, you are not alone.

Kare Plus are proud to be partnered with AbleFutures, a free support centre who want to help and listen. They supply fully trained professionals who can provide you 9 months of free mental health support. We send our love and thoughts to those who have lost their lives and to those who are bereaving. 

Thank you to all key workers throughout, to those communities who pulled together and helped one other, to all individuals and groups who have contributed positively like the legendary Sir Captain Tom, who raised a phenomenal amount for the NHS charities and all the other many crusaders.

Thank you to the care workers who moved into care homes to look after their customers, to those volunteers who went shopping for the vulnerable, to all the people who checked in on their neighbours, to all the Zoom’s that helped us stay connected, to being grateful for our daily exercise and being able to smile with your eyes over your mask at passer byes and to the celebration of our heroes.
