Considering a career as a HCA? Here’s How You Can Get Started!

As a healthcare assistant, you can work in the hospital and in community settings. You will normally work under the guidance of a further qualified healthcare professional such as a nurse.

The duties of healthcare assistants often include

• Observing, monitoring and recording patients’ conditions and taking observations such as temperature, pulse, respirations and weight.
• Companionship – You may have more time to sit and chat with a patient than a nurse would. You could also spend time with relatives to help them feel at ease.
• Personal care such as infection prevention and control, food, person hygiene, comfort and safety.
• Promoting mental or physical health to patients.
• Checking & ordering supplies
• And lots more!

There are no set entry requirements to become a healthcare assistant, although some healthcare providers require minimum experience within a similar role. At Kare Plus we require you to have six months of previous experience in the role, within the past two years and the right to work in the UK.

Kare Plus Redbridge offers weekly pay for healthcare assistants along with a fully funded NVQ in Health and Social Care. We also provide full-time, part-time and bank shifts to fit around your availability.

Don’t have any previous experience? Our homecare positions do not require previous experience in healthcare as full training is provided. All we need is proof of your right to work in the UK and that you have a passion for helping others. Drivers are often preferred due to the nature of the role, but we are always open to a chat.
