Breast Cancer Fundraisers Can Be As Tasty As Afternoon Tea

Saturday, August 31st, 2024 | Maria Wilkinson

When holding a breast cancer fundraiser, what sweeter way to raise money than with a delicious afternoon tea?

Most people love cake and inviting donations to enjoy a tasty treat is a simple and fun way to help fundraise for breast cancer research.

Charity Breast Cancer Now is behind the campaign, which runs every August.

Several of our Kare Plus offices across the UK invited friends, family, colleagues and the public to join them for a cuppa and light bite during the month.

Kare Plus Windsor Raises More Than £600 For Breast Cancer Now

Our Homecare by Kare Plus Windsor office held an afternoon tea in partnership with a local cafe, Woodstock’s Coffee and Tea House and raised an amazing £616.44.

With a very pink theme, dozens of homemade cupcakes were snapped up and enjoyed by the community, while a raffle with some amazing donated prizes helped raise even more money.

Organised by office administrator Lorna Allen, plenty of great conversations and even some laughs were had, especially when the raffle prize of a free blow-dry was won by her colleague Ola – only he doesn’t have any hair!

“We also had a rather elderly lady win the one hour free tattooing prize, which was brilliant!” said Lorna.

“Some of our local older people asked what we’re planning for next month, so they defintely seem to have enjoyed themselves.

“A huge thank you to Paul, manager of Woodstock’s for helping us make this happen.

“It was a great success and we’re already talking about holding another event to fundraise for another good cause in the future.”

Kare Plus Ashford’s Fundraising Afternoon Tea

In Kent, Kare Plus Ashford and Margate raised £152 at an afternoon tea hosted for staff and friends hosted at their Ashford office.

Registered Manager Daphne Burns said the whole team really came together to raise a fantastic amount.

“A huge thank you to everyone to everyone who attended our afternoon tea fundraiser in aid of Breast Cancer Now,” she said.

“Together we raised an incredible £150.08 for this important cause.

“We’re so grateful to all the staff who donated and everyone who came out to show their support.

“Your generosity and participation truly make a difference.”

Here at Kare Plus HQ in Shropshire, we hosted a gathering for our friends, office staff and neighbouring businesses.

For a small donation, we dished up fondant fancies, swiss roll, doughnuts, cupcakes and muffins.

Breast Cancer Now Afternoon Tea

Breast Cancer Now’s fundraising afternoon tea campaign in August aims to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.

This UK-wide breast cancer fundraising event encourages individuals and communities to come together for a delightful afternoon tea, all while contributing to a cause that impacts millions of lives.

The campaign not only helps in generating essential funds for ongoing research but also plays a crucial role in educating people about breast cancer and the importance of early detection.

Breast cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, with one woman diagnosed with the disease every 10 minutes.

That’s 55,000 women diagnosed every year, with around 400 men also diagnosed. Around one in seven women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime.

A fundraising afternoon tea is a unique way to blend social gatherings with a meaningful purpose, making it easy for participants to support breast cancer research in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.

By hosting or attending an afternoon tea, participants contribute to the collective effort to advance breast cancer research, which is vital in developing new treatments and improving outcomes for those diagnosed with the disease.

Every cup of tea poured and every slice of cake shared brings the community one step closer to finding a cure.

Through this campaign, Breast Cancer Now aims to spread awareness about breast cancer while providing a platform for communities to show their support.

The fundraising event not only raises essential resources but also fosters a sense of solidarity among those affected by breast cancer, whether directly or through loved ones.

As participants gather around for tea, they are reminded of the ongoing fight against breast cancer and the power of collective action in making a difference.
