Passion

Have a passion for what you do is one of the most important qualities that healthcare professional should possess. Loving what you are doing is an important part of being good at any job, but no more so than when you are caring for those in your community who are in need. Care work can be demanding; therefore you must be extremely driven and able to think on your feet. Empowering someone to live their life as they wish is a huge privilege, and those who are passionate about this will no doubt excel.

Organisation

Care is a big responsibility and you must always remember that you are caring for someone who is likely to be vulnerable, and you are an advocate for them. Being organised will ensure that you are always ahead of the game. You may be required to assist with general life administration, enabling someone to stay in their own home and live independently. Ensuring that you are organised and doing as much as you can for customers, Will ensure you provide the best level of care possible.

Reliability

As a carer, it is likely that you will be the only visitor that a customer has all day and they will be eagerly awaiting your arrival. If you’re busy, lateness is sometimes unavoidable, but being mostly on time and reliable will mean that you will get to spend the optimal amount of time which each customer, and make sure that all of their needs are adhered to.

Flexibility

Working in care often involves long hours. You may sometimes be asked to cover somebody else or to work longer than you were originally supposed to. This often happens in this industry, so flexibility is key. Of course, shift patterns will work out and the flexibility can work the other way around meaning that we can let you work the shifts that you wish to, in order to try and work around your lifestyle.
