Support Worker

(To be considered for this role, you must have at least 3 months experience in the UK)

Job Description:

  • Understand and work within the structure and ethos of the Kare Plus group
  • To work in line with the Kare Plus’s mission, vision, values.
  • Develop effective professional working relationships with workforce solutions staffing.
  • To maintain Care skills at a current level and undertake such training and development as may from time-to-time be required to maintain practices as up-to-date.
  • Support an open, positive and inclusive working culture, ensuring a transparent and declarative approach
  • Minimise legal risks through adherence to best practices in line with policies and procedures.
  • Participate in the maintenance of Kare Plus management information systems as required
  • Assist in the formulation and implementation of care policies and procedures where required.
  • Work in a cost-effective manner.
  • Systematically solve day-to-day problematical issues and challenges which may arise.
  • Act as an ambassador for Kare Plus when on any assignment or wearing your uniform.
  • Be responsible for the reviewing your delivery of care and support ensuring that any key information is timely and communicated to all relevant people.
  • Communicate effectively with office staff and colleagues to ensure seamless working practices
  • Work flexibly where required to meet the needs of the customer whilst ensuring safe reporting of any requests or changes to provision.
  • Promote additional services within the organisation as required
  • Ensure availability is up to date with the office and that you can commit to accepted shifts
  • Escalate Issues/Concerns/Complaints/Safeguarding to the Registered Manager or acting persons in the absence of a Manager where applicable
  • Be responsible for safe documenting and handling of medications at the point of assessment and or delivery as well as monitoring of ongoing safe practice in line with company policies and procedures as well as individual rules and regulations on assignment.
  • Where required take part in audit processes to monitor quality and safe adherence to Care delivery.
  • Where required make yourself available to facilitate best practice in relation to safeguarding practices including provision of statements and or interviews.
  • Be proactive in becoming a Dignity Champion and a Dementia Friend, promote this amongst others
  • Monitor Care Workers and evaluate performance
  • Seek opportunities for personal development and professional growth
  • Promote and support a positive image of Kare Plus at all times
  • Support the effective resolution of team conflicts.
  • Support a work atmosphere which promotes a high quality of work life.
  • Support and maintain a culture of performance and excellence.

Healthcare Assistants & Support Workers play a vital role in the care of patients. Working under the direction of more senior healthcare professionals, they take care of the day-to-day needs of patients by providing help with range of tasks which include but are not limited to personal care, meals and mobility. They may also carry out a range of housekeeping duties, as well as performing basic medical checks, such as taking a patient’s temperature, pulse, and respiration rate.

The attitude of Healthcare Assistants & Support Workers is of far more importance than any formal qualifications. Suitable candidates for this role are friendly, caring and sensitive individuals, who are able to offer social stimulation as well as care to the patients they tend. The job is a physical one and often requires manual handling, so a good level of fitness is also required as well as flexibility to working patterns and offered shifts.

Healthcare Assistants & Support Workers usually work a shift or rota system, which may include nights, weekends and bank holidays. All workers must have a DBS check and it is usually necessary to have some prior experience of care work, although on-the-job training is available.
