The NHS has declared a level 2 heat alert in the UK over the next week due to a forecasted heatwave. The temperature from today till Friday is expected to hit the upper 20Cs, with London expecting 31C. The temperature is set to surpass what is forecasted for Los Angeles and Madrid, and match the heat levels in Bangkok.

NHS officials have warned the public to prepare for the heat by taking simple measures such as; not wearing too many layers, drink water to stay hydrated, don’t stay out in the sun any longer than you have to, especially between the hours of 12pm and 3pm when the sun is at its zenith and take extra precautions if you have any underlying health issues. There will likely be an extra strain on the hospitals and other healthcare establishments as well, so make sure you only visit one if you absolutely have to.

While we all tend to struggle with the heat sometimes, just remember how hard it is for any pets you have. They can’t take their fur off, so make sure you keep them hydrated, and never keep them locked in a car.
