Stress Awareness Month: Talk to Someone

Friday, April 22nd, 2016 | Raising Awareness
A A A

When you’re feeling down, it is all too easy to let your thoughts take over. When this happens you can often struggle to share how you’re feeling with other people – perhaps worrying they won’t understand.

Talking to someone, be it about how you’re feeling or just general conversation, can help by either distracting you from your stressful feelings or releasing some of your built-up tension. Either way, afterwards you will feel more relaxed and relieve some of your tension.

It doesn’t have to a trained professional either, just a friend, work colleague or relative can be more than sufficient to help get it off your chest. However, if you find this doesn’t help then considering a professional may be worthwhile.

If you’re a nurse or carer feeling the stress and strains of the job, you can read more about methods to ease your tension in our Stress Awareness Month series, here
