The ideal candidate will be highly motivated with demonstrated previous systems administrator experience and have a desire to forge an exciting career in managing our internal IT network.

The successful candidate will be responsible for administrating and maintaining the infrastructure to support the needs of the business with opportunities to support on IT projects and help to innovate the department as well as the wider company. 

The Job Role

The role of the Systems Administrator is to maintain, install/issue, test and manage all in-house Kare Plus information, communication and technology-based systems, including all hardware, software and networks.

Resourcefulness is a necessary skill in this role; diagnosis and resolution of problems need to happen quickly.

Patience and communication with a variety of interdisciplinary teams, users and suppliers is required and the goal will be to ensure that our networks technology infrastructure runs smoothly and efficiently.

The role will also require key involvement in effective training of use of related IT systems and processes.

Key Skills Required

Kare Plus is looking for an individual with strong networking knowledge coupled with commercial experience, scripting skills and proficiencies in a wide range of programming languages including, ASP.NET, VB.NET, SQL, C#

As System Administrator you will perform daily monitoring checks; verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, network and server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and verifying completion of scheduled jobs, including backups. If you can maintain and administer computer networks, including hardware, systems software, applications software, administrative tools and utilities, and all configurations including the installation and management of operating system patches and upgrades on a regular basis then please apply today. Desirable Skills If you are Proficient in a wide range of programming languages including, ASP.NET, VB.NET, SQL, including C# programming then you are likely to receive an immediate interview request. SummaryIf you have, as described, the commercial experience as System Administrator with proven planning and organisation skills, coupled with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines then we’d like to hear from you. 

Job Duties:

  • Maintain, protect and organise the operational systems for the whole business
  • Continually modifying new or upgrading existing hardware with new releases and models to meet the needs and demands of the company
  • To monitor system performance and trouble shoot issues and outages
  • To maintain clear communication on system status and development
  • Prepares, installs and manages solutions by determining and designing system specifications and standards. For example, setting up laptops and phones ready to go for users.
  • Confer, obtain and work to specifications and information obtained from relevant individuals/suppliers involved with use of hardware and relating software. (I.e. Microsoft Platforms, Newcare/Vision)
  • Protects operations, enduring security and efficiency of IT infrastructure and to keep information protected and confidential. (In line with GDPR policy)
  • To work with, maintain and build relationships with relevant suppliers. Share information with management about suppliers. (Printers, devices, computers etc.)
  • To work with IT department and other operational colleagues to maintain and update all training documentation and build an internal with ‘wiki’ of technical documentation, manuals and IT policies

 

Person Specification | Requirements

The ideal candidate will have the following qualities:

  • Proven and demonstrable experience of working successfully as a System Administrator, Network Administrator or similar role for 3-5 years: Experience of working in an IT in a healthcare environment would be a real advantage.
  • Excellent levels of literacy and numeracy: Good education to level 3 NVQ/Btec or A-Level standard and above
  • Proficient in a wide range of programming languages including, ASP.NET, VB.NET, SQL, C#
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related degree - BSc/Ba in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; professional certification (e.g. Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) is a plus

The candidate needs to demonstrate resourcefulness with problem-solving aptitude and trouble shooting skills. Along with an intuitive methodical attention to detail, they need to be a team player, have great time management and organisation skills; be self-confident and able to prioritise. Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills are essential in this role and the candidate must be committed to continued professional development.
